Berea woman accused of abusing her 6-month-old

BEREA, Ky. (WTVQ) — A Berea woman was arrested last week after being accused of abusing her 6-month-old.

On Dec. 22, Hannah Rupard took her baby to a local clinic; doctors said the baby needed to be seen at UK Hospital for treatment, according to Berea police.

When Rupard, 21, took her baby to the hospital the same day, a social worker called the police.

When officers arrived at the hospital, they say Rupard admitted that she hit her 6-month-old three times in the head, causing bruising.

She also allegedly pulled off one of the baby’s toenails and forcibly pushed a pacifier into her mouth, causing an injury.

Rupard is charged with criminal abuse (child 12 or under).

She’ll appear in court on Thursday at 8:30 a.m.
