Bengals: What’s Next?
CINCINNATI, Oh. – (WTVQ) – Witnessing the Sunday afternoon Bengals game against the Pittsburgh Steelers was difficult to say the least.
Hopes have been growing as the Cincinnati home teams have been demonstrating the potential for a deep run in the playoffs.
Those hopes hit some speed bumps on Sunday.
It started with the early injury to franchise quarterback Andy Dalton, who suffered a thumb injury to his throwing hand when attempting a tackle on a defensive player that had just intercepted one of his passes.
Dalton later reported that he “had a fracture…but wouldn’t know more until he saw a hand surgeon on Monday”.
Needless to say, any injury to the throwing hand of a quarterback is serious, but a fracture could mean the end of the season for Dalton.
If that wasn’t enough, the afternoon featured a steady parade of Bengals players to the locker room for injury evaluations, including Tyler Eifert and Vontaze Burfict, among others.
It was almost as if the day was doomed from the beginning.
Even the Ben-Gals Cheerleaders had to abandon their festive holiday uniforms at halftime due to the unseasonably warm temperatures.
The question is…what’s next?
The season just fell into the lap of A.J. McCarron and A.J. Green.
The next few weeks will give us some insight into what we can expect in terms of the position and outlook of the Bengals playoffs hopes.
