Bengals fall 34-27 in preseason shootout
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Bengals kicked off their preseason with a 34–27 loss to the Eagles. Despite falling short, there were still plenty of positives, especially on offense.
Quarterback Joe Burrow looked sharp, playing just two drives but going 9-of-10 for over 120 yards and two touchdowns. Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase picked up right where they left off, connecting for 77 yards and a score. Tight end Tanner Hudson was a surprise standout with six catches for 62 yards and two TDs.
However, the Bengals defense, especially the backups, struggled to keep up. Eagles QB Tanner McKee carved up the Bengals’ backups, throwing for 252 yards and three touchdowns in just the first half.
The Bengals next preseason test is on the road against the Commanders on Monday Aug. 18 at 8 p.m. ET.
