Bengals drop third straight game in 37-24 loss to Lions
CINCINNATI, Oh. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Despite a glimmer of hope in the fourth quarter, the Cincinnati Bengals ultimately fell to the Detroit Lions 37-24 and dropped their third straight game, slipping to 2-3 on the season. It was the first time the Lions have beat the Bengals since 1992.
Detroit held a commanding 28-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter, but the Bengals went on a late run, making it seem as though a comeback might be possible. Jake Browning connected two touchdown passes to cut the deficit to 28-17 with just over ten minutes remaining in the game. However, the Lions responded with another touchdown and a safety to put the game out of reach and secure the win.
Quarterback Jake Browning finished 26-of-40 for 251 yards, three touchdowns, and also three momentum-shifting interceptions.
Head Coach Zac Taylor seemed optimistic in the post-game press conference, saying, “I’m extremely proud of these guys and the way they fight in the face of adversity when it looks like it’s real dim, and all of a sudden there is some hope. Five games in, that’s what I’m counting on to get us through this.”
The Bengals hit the road again next Sunday to take on the Green Bay Packers at 4:25 p.m.
