Bell County Schools respond after field trip bus stopped by law enforcement

BELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Bell County School District has released a statement after a school bus carrying students on a field trip was stopped by law enforcement on Friday. According to the district, a replacement driver was immediately sent to ensure students were transported home safely, while the original bus driver was taken to the hospital for medical testing.

The district emphasized that “at no time were students in danger, and they remained supervised and safe throughout the entire process.” Officials said they are unable to share specific details about what led to the traffic stop.

According to the statement, the district is following all required procedures and protocols as it reviews the situation, and student safety remains its highest priority. Additional updates will be shared if and when legally permitted.
