Be a Santa to a Senior this Christmas season

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Folks in Lexington once again have the chance to be Santa to a senior in the community.

Home Instead is collecting gifts from the community, which will safely be delivered to seniors in need.

“The Be a Santa to a Senior program brings so much joy to seniors in our community,” said Rich Berube, owner of the Lexington Home Instead office. “Seniors are especially at risk for the feelings of isolation that we’ve all felt at some point during the pandemic, and a simple gift can show them that they have been thought of, which is more important this year than ever.”

Home Instead will collect gift donations until Dec. 1 at its office located at 207 East Reynolds Road, Suite 150. Drop-off dates include Nov. 10, 17 & 24 from 8:30 A.M. to 4 P.M., and Dec. 1 & 8 from 8:30 A.M. to 7 P.M. Unwrapped gifts can also be mailed to the office no later than Dec. 11.

Suggested gifts include large print crossword puzzle books, jigsaw puzzles, toiletries, hats and scarfs, soft lap blankets, candy and Christmas decorations.

“We need the community’s help more than ever to make sure seniors feel connected this year,” said Berube. “This year we knew we had to find a way to spread holiday cheer to seniors, and we are grateful for the community’s participation.”
