BCTC receives $20,000 donation from Columbia Gas of Kentucky through the NiSource Charitable Foundation

Lexington, Ky. (WTVQ) – Bluegrass Community and Technical College (BCTC) has taken another step forward in expanding their new campus at Newtown Pike by receiving a donation of $20,000 from Columbia Gas of Kentucky through the NiSource Charitable Foundation. This will complement an earlier gift of $10,000 bringing their full support to $30,000.

The funding will be used to build the Interdisciplinary Science Center at the Newtown Campus through BCTC’s BuildSmart fundraising campaign. The college expects to break ground on the new Science Center in 2016.

The Interdisciplinary Science Center at Newtown is BCTC’s top building priority and the total scope of this project is $24 million. The Science Center will allow the college to expand programs in two key career areas, science and healthcare, which are in high demand in the region and beyond.

Columbia Gas of Kentucky and NiSource are dedicated to education in the community and understand how critical BCTC is to the development of a qualified, skilled workforce. “BCTC is a tremendous resource for those who want to further their education,” said CKY President Herbert A. Miller, Jr. “The Interdisciplinary Science Center will enhance the educational opportunities in our community and we are proud to help make this resource possible.”
