BCTC officially opens the Science Education Center on Newtown Campus
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- The Science Education Center is finally open on the Newton Campus of the Bluegrass Community & Technical College.
The community, students, staff, and faculty celebrated the much anticipated opening on Monday with an open house and ribbon cutting.
The Bluegrass Community & Technical College Science Education Center (SEC) is a 64,000 square foot facility and home to the biotechnology and environmental science programs.
It also houses labs that will be used for biology, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, molecular biology, organismal biology, physics and astronomy purposes.
There are also offices for 20 faculty and staff, and student support areas.
The $24M SEC project was funded through the BuildSmart initiative approved by the Kentucky State General Assembly in 2014 and supported by many regional and community partners.
BCTC summer classes begin Monday. May 14 and June 25 for session II.
