BCTC celebrates opening of Nursing and Allied Health Facility on Leestown campus
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)— Bluegrass Community & Technical College celebrated the opening of its newly renovated Nursing and Allied Health facility on the Leestown Campus. This project was funded by a Kentucky Work Ready Skills Initiative investment of $3,040,000 and the support of community partners.
The BCTC Leestown Campus renovation features dynamic classrooms and labs with state-of-the-art medical equipment for students interested in pursuing careers in healthcare. Over 500 students will learn in multi-disciplinary simulation labs that resemble their future work environments.
Through education and training received at this facility, employers and the communities they serve will benefit from an expanded and well-trained workforce to meet growing demand.
With this 37,000 square-foot renovation, BCTC can increase enrollment to meet current and projected workforce demand and significantly reduce the skills gap. In addition, BCTC will work with secondary education partners to expand the number of high school students earning postsecondary credits and credentials, which will move them more quickly along healthcare career pathways offered at BCTC.
