Barking dog alerts owners to house fire

VERSAILLES, Ky. (WTVQ) – Firefighters say a dog might have saved lives after a house fire Sunday morning in Versailles.

Investigators say as the house filled with smoke, the dog started to bark. That alerted the people in the home, and they were able to get out.

Firefighters say it appears a light had been left under a crawl space, in order to thaw some pipes. Investigators say the home was damaged, but isn’t a total loss.
