Barbourville school threat
KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Barbourville Independent School District is investigating a potential threat made against the district, according to Superintendent Dennis Messer.
In a statement, Messer said school personnel were made aware of the potential threat and immediately contacted the Barbourville Police Department, which launched an investigation.
Messer assured families that student safety remains the district’s top priority. He confirmed that law enforcement has detained an individual in connection with the situation, and the court system is now handling the matter.
The superintendent also expressed gratitude to the Barbourville Police Department for their prompt response and stated that the district will continue to keep families informed as more details become available.
