Awesome Breastforms

Awesome Breastforms is a volunteer run organization whose members hand knit or crochet cotton breast prostheses for women who have lost breast tissue due to mastectomy, lumpectomy, or ex-plant surgery or who have had developmental issues.  The prostheses (or forms) are made to order from high quality cotton yarn and stuffing materials and are much lighter in weight and cooler than traditional silicone prostheses.  They come in a wide range of sizes from A to E (with larger or smaller sizes or half sizes available upon request) and colors, including skin tones, pastels, and wild and crazy. The forms can be worn in a regular bra, sports bra, or mastectomy bra. Awesome Breastforms also has a custom forms team who work directly with a woman to design a form that meets her special needs when something other than a regular form is needed. Swim forms are also available for use in a mastectomy bathing suit.

Awesome breastforms are always free to the recipient. All a woman has to do is place the order through the Awesome Breastforms website. A volunteer crafter will make the order and ship it to her at no cost — the volunteer bears all costs for materials and shipping. An Awesome Breastforms recipient will never be asked to pay for a form or to make a donation in exchange for receiving the form. Awesome Breastforms began in May 2015 and, to date, has filled more than 13,000 orders in approximately 57 countries and has volunteers located in approximately 10 countries.
