AVOL participants walk to end HIV in Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – A group from AVOL walked in downtown Lexington to raise awareness about HIV in Kentucky.

According to AVOL’s executive director, one of every seven people who is HIV positive doesn’t know it.

AVOL’s goal is to encourage people to get tested and if you do have HIV, it has medical and housing resources available.

“We have enough medical technology to be able to really end HIV in Kentucky and we need people to spread the word that resources are available for testing and medical care, but we need to get people in,” said Jon Parker, AVOL executive director.

At the walk, AVOL announced its goals for the future.

It wants to create a statewide focus and expand medical services.
