Aviation flight school groundbreaking at EKU
RICHMOND, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) is set to host a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday for its new $25 million aviation flight school facility. The event will take place at the Central Kentucky Regional Airport in Richmond.
According to university officials, EKU’s aviation program, which began in 1983, has seen significant growth over the years, with over 460 students currently enrolled. The new state-of-the-art facility will replace two outdated trailers that have served as the program’s base, providing a modern learning environment for future pilots.
The new flight school underscores EKU’s commitment to advancing its aviation program and supporting the growing demand for skilled aviation professionals. The university has not yet announced a timeline for the completion of the facility.
