Austin Peay auctioning jerseys for Wounded Warrior

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Austin Peay is commemorating Veterans Day by auctioning off camouflage jerseys with Fort Campbell unit nicknames on the back in place of players’ names to help support the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Governors started the auction online at www.letsgopeay.com Tuesday.

The jerseys cost Austin Peay a timeout per quarter during Saturday’s homecoming game against Tennessee State for violating the NCAA’s Rule 1, Article 5 for proper numerals and lettering. Coach Kirby Cannon chose to wear the jerseys all four quarters as part of Military Appreciation Day and to honor Fort Campbell located nearby on the Tennessee-Kentucky border.

Austin Peay lost the game 31-27 to Tennessee State.
