ATV accident kills 1, injures another in Whitley County

WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) — An ATV accident in Whitley County has left one man dead, another injured and deputies investigating the party they say the two were at just before the accident.

According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Levi Lay Road at around 3 a.m. Sunday and found 20-year-old Matthew White dead and his brother, Dustin, critically injured.

Deputies say the brothers were on a four-wheeler when they lost control on a curve and hit a tree.

The coroner pronounced Matthew White dead at the scene.

According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Office, while investigating the crash, deputies could see a party going on at a home down the road. People were also leaving the party to come to the accident.

Deputies say they learned Matthew and Dustin White left the party shortly before the wreck.

Ten adults at the party were taken into custody after three minors were found under the influence of intoxicants

The charges include alcohol intoxication in a public place, unlawful transaction with a minor and disorderly conduct.
