Artist reaches out to students

BURNA, Ky. (AP) — When a group of eighth grade art students at Livingston County Middle School posed for a photo with drawings they created in the style of a Californian artist, they didn’t know he would share their work for thousands of people to see.

Nancy Smith teaches art at the middle school and at Livingston County High School. She said she’s had her middle school students depict their own pieces titled "The Street Where I Live" based on the style of San Francisco artist John Kraft’s "Lombard Street" for about five years.

Smith contacted Kraft through Facebook about her class’s versions of "The Street Where I Live."

Kraft has since posted a picture of students holding their drawings on his website, and he says more than 3,000 have seen their picture.
