Arrests made in Barbourville burglary
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – Police made two arrests Friday in connection to a burglary and stolen vehicle case.
On Thursday, Barbourville police officers were notified that a home had been burglarized and a vehicle stolen.
Police say, according to victim statements, the homeowner had laid down for a nap and discovered a purse missing from the dining area of the house when she woke up. After further inspection, the woman told police she noticed the Lexus SUV parked outside had been taken by someone entering through a window.
Officers say they were notified Friday that credit cards from the stolen purse had been used in the area and that one transaction, just outside of Barbourville, was very recent.
Police say and officer drove past the missing Lexus, notifying nearby units.
Officers say they were able to stop traffic through a construction area allowing them to surround the stolen SUV and take the occupants into custody.
According to police, Carmen Yates and Brandon Warren were arrested. They say both are in the Knox County Jail.
Officers say Yates, who was driving, was lodged on several different charges, and Warren was charged with Receiving Stolen Property Over $10,000.00.
