LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – An arrest warrant has been issued for a former University of Kentucky student who has been indicted in the death of a newborn.
Laken Snelling faces multiple charges, including manslaughter, after a grand jury indictment.
Snelling was first arrested last August after a newborn was found dead at a home on Park Avenue. Investigators say Snelling told them she gave birth around 4 a.m. and later passed out on top of the baby.
When she woke up, she reported the baby’s skin had turned blue and purple.
According to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office, the baby was born alive and died from suffocation.
Snelling is scheduled to be arraigned April 10.
