Arrest made in Jackson County murder investigation
MCKEE, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky State Police says an arrest has been made in connection with a deadly shooting investigation in Jackson County.
According to a KSP release, troopers took James S. Bergman, 24, of Irvine, into custody Wednesday just before 8 p.m. He is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. Bergmais being held in the Three Forks Detention Center.
The case began on May 18, when the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department requested investigative assistance after the body of a man was found inside a vehicle on Richardson Road in McKee.
The victim was identified as 40-year-old James D. Carmack of Irvine, who police say died from a fatal gunshot wound. Investigators said the shooter left before law enforcement arrived.
