Arrest Made After Shoplifter Ran Over Nicholasville Worker
Nicholasville Police said what could’ve been a citation for shoplifting may be 10-20 years behind bars for Zakary Mcneely, 21, who they said intentionally hit a gas station worker with his car.
An officer said Mcneely came to the Circle K on Edgewood Drive around 5 a.m.
They said he wanted to take items but did not have the money to pay.
According to police, he tried to leave with the items valued less than $50.
The worker went after him.
Police said the employee was behind the Mcneely’s car writing down the license tag number when the vehicle was thrown in reverse.
They tell us the worker was hit intentionally and was taken to U.K. Hospital to be treated.
Police said the victim is fine and has been released from the hospital.
Officers said Mcneely was charged with first degree robbery.
