Arrest in Nicholasville battery theft

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man has been arrested in connection with the theft of 24 batteries that were stolen from busses located at the Jessamine County Schools bus garage on April 27.

Police say after the reported theft, they received a tip that someone had been in Lexington attempting to sell a large quantity of bus batteries. Detectives investigated and were able to charge Japeth Cook of Nicholasville with the theft of these batteries. He was arrested Tuesday.

So far, 8 batteries have been recovered in Richmond. Detectives are still investigating the whereabouts of the other stolen batteries.
