‘Are you OK?’ Georgetown police remind of free outreach program

The Georgetown Police Department is reminding of a free outreach program that’s designed to help check on the well-being of elderly individuals, disabled persons and others who may need assistance.

The “Are you OK?” program is a daily safety check-in for senior citizens and disabled individuals in the community.

The system is pretty simple — an applicant will receive a phone call asking “Are you OK?”

If their answer is yes, they can hang up and go about their day. If not, a volunteer will determine the nature of the situation and if a response is needed.

Registration for the program is open to all residents of the city of Georgetown, and there’s no charge to participate.

To register, you must:

  • Be a city of Georgetown resident
  • 65 years or older
  • Live alone
  • Have a working telephone
  • Have a medical condition that requires you to be confined to a home
  • Have any other condition as deemed appropriate by the program administrator

To sign up, you can email Officer Ryan Hill at ryan.hill@georgetownpolice.org.
