April declared Financial Literacy Month in Kentucky
FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ) – Governor Matt Bevin has proclaimed this April as Financial Literacy Month in Kentucky.
According to the proclamation signed by Gov. Bevin, “Every Kentuckian has the responsibility to manage their own money and credit, control debt, realize the importance of saving, and understand that it is never too late to invest.” Studies show that the more people are exposed to financial literacy education, the less likely they are to struggle with debt in the future and the more likely they are to develop better money management habits.
In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition is participating in Teach Children to Save Day on April 29th. Teach Children to Save Day is a national event developed by the American Bankers Association Education Foundation. On April 29th, Kentucky Jump$tart is sending volunteers to 33 second grade classrooms to teach students about saving.
Throughout April, the Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition is also promoting free events and activities for the public through social media. Follow Kentucky Jump$tart Coalition on Facebook, www.facebook.com/kyjumpstart, for additional details on upcoming events and programs.
