Applications closing soon for new girls STEM school in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The deadline is approaching to apply for a new STEM school that officials say will prepare young girls in Lexington for a future in science, technology, engineering and math.
According to Fayette County Public Schools, the new magnet school for girls opens in the Fall. It will be at the former Linlee Elementary School, on Spurr Road.
School officials will start the program with 150 students, beginning with kindergarten through second grade.
The district says it will host a “Splash!” event where families can find out more information. It will be held at Consolidated Baptist Church on February 11 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Officials say the event will feature STEM demonstrations for children, free pizza, an application booth and staff on hand to answer questions.
The deadline to apply is February 17th.
