Apartment fire displaces some residents at the Veridian; no injuries reported
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Authorities say a fire that damaged Veridian Apartments in Lexington, has been contained.
The Lexington Fire Department says they were called to the scene just before 5:30 p.m. on Monday afternoon for reports of a fire.
Officials say no one was hurt, but the fire did affect 18 apartments.
The fire department says, The Red Cross is working to relocate residents who are without a home Monday night.
One woman said she wasn’t aware of what was going on at the time of the fire, but says she knew something was wrong once her power went out.
“I was just cooking my dinner, all of a sudden my power went out, I saw some fire trucks come by, so I decided to come outside and see what was going on, and it was the building right next to us. I got all my food that needs to be refrigerated with me and I am going to have someone pick me up, so I could stay there for a while,” said Olivia Anton, a resident at the Veridian.
The fire department says their crews remained on scene throughout the night clearing hot-spots.
