Antonio Reeves gets drafted 47th overall to the Pelicans
BROOKLYN, NY. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Antonio Reeves is the 3rd Wildcat to get drafted in the 2024 draft; behind Reed Sheppard (3), Rob Dillingham (8). He was drafted 47th overall by the Orlando Magic, and then traded to the New Orleans Pelicans.
Reeves started his collegiate career at Illinois State and played there for three years before transferring to Kentucky for his senior year and his fifth-year.
In his fifth-year, he started all 33 games for the Wildcats, averaging a team-high 31.4 minutes per game. He averaged 20.2 points per game, the most ever by a UK player under John Calipari.
The Chicago native finished the year shooting 51.2% from the field, 44.7% from 3-point range and 86.3% from the foul line.
He earned multiple honors last season; including The Sporting News: All-America Third Team, USBWA All-America Third Team, and All-SEC First Team by the coaches and media.
