Annual Lexington Christmas Parade rolls through downtown

LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ)- The city of Lexington helped bring in the holiday spirit Saturday, as the annual Christmas parade returned to downtown.
The parade included around 50 floats, cars, dancers, bands, and community organizations.
“We have everything from queens, pageant queens, different marching bands, floats, Santa Clause. Wouldn’t be a parade without that guy,” says Laura Farnsworth, Director of Development and Events of the Downtown Lexington Partnership.
The parade brought hundreds of people to the downtown streets, including Lexington resident Samantha Martin. Martin has been coming to the parade her whole life. Martin coming to spend time with her family. She says the parade is a great event to help bring the community together for some holiday cheer.
“I enjoyed coming to the parade, and seeing everyone that participated,” says Martin.
The Lexington Downtown Partnership also provided other activities for families to enjoy.
“It’s really heart-warming to see people come back year over year. And I’ve been doing this for a long time. Ive seen children grow up and now they’re part of the marching band,” says Farnsworth.
