Met

LEXINGTON, Ky (WTVQ)- Horse riders from across the Commonwealth were at Masterson Station Park Sunday morning all to help raise money for a good cause.

The Masterson Equestrian Trust held its’ annual Benefit Hunter Pace event at the park. The MET is dedicated to the preservation of Masterson Station Park for use by equestrian enthusiasts and to the improvement of the facilities.

The benefit event included a new obstacle course, costume contest, a horse jumping decorating contest, and trail events. Organizers say the event is a great way to help improve the park, while also highlighting what it has to offer.

“There aren’t parks like this anywhere in Kentucky. And the people who have been coming from out of state say they have to drive for hours to find something like this. And then they have to pay to ride. And this, there is no charge for this. We’re just raising money so that we can continue to look after it, what we have here. Because it is such a gem,” says Shelley Ryan, the president of the Masterson Station Trust.

Hundreds of riders attended the event, including from Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia.
