Animals rescued from home, trying to locate homeowner

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Lexington-Fayette Animal Care and Control says a dog and several cats have been rescued from horrible living conditions inside a home.

According to animal control, a neighbor complained about the house on Hedgewood Court.  When the homeowner couldn’t be reached, investigators say a search warrant was issued.

Upon executing the warrant, animal control officials say they found feces throughout the house, and bowls filled with dirty, undrinkable water.  Workers say litter boxes were overflowing, and there were bugs all over the place.

Lexington – Fayette Animal Care and Control says a dog with a matted coat and in need of medical attention was rescued.  Six cats were also removed from the home.

Investigators are looking for the homeowner, who faces animal cruelty charges.  Once the dog and cats are checked over, they’ll be available for adoption.
