Animal torture suspect due in court
PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Pulaski County man accused of disturbing acts of animal abuse is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
According to court records, 22-year-old Zachary Rollins is facing charges of animal torture and is due for a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m.
Rollins was arrested on May 10 on Skyview Drive, after deputies responded to a call reporting that he had allegedly bitten off the ear of a cat during a domestic dispute. The cat, now renamed Bunny, is recovering at Sheabel Veterinary Hospital in Lexington after undergoing multiple surgeries, including treatment for broken legs.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office says Rollins is also facing charges in a separate incident involving the deaths of two other cats in April.
The case has drawn outrage and concern from animal advocates across the state. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
