Animal Shelter looking for woman who abandoned a dog

WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Clark County Animal Shelter is condemning the actions of a driver caught on camera abandoning a puppy outside its gate.

According to shelter staff, surveillance video shows a vehicle pulling up, shoving the puppy through a small opening, and driving away — all within about 12 seconds.

The shelter says there is no reason to abandon an animal, reminding the public that it’s an open-intake facility. Staff urge anyone needing assistance to come during regular hours or call for help instead of leaving pets unattended.

Officials also point out that abandoning an animal is a crime in Kentucky, punishable by fines or jail time. The shelter is using the incident as a reminder that responsible pet ownership and compassion can prevent needless suffering.
