Governor weighs in on future prioritizing healing the nation
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says his priority is helping unite the country, even as questions continue about his future in national politics.
Beshear, who will take over as chair of the Democratic Governors Association next year, said he wants to be a voice of common sense and unity. While he hasn’t ruled out a larger role down the road, he said family will guide his decision.
“After that, I’m going to sit down. And if my family thinks that I’m somebody that can help heal this country, I’ll consider it,” Beshear said. “But if there’s somebody else, I’ll be for them, because at the end of the day, I care more about the United States than in any title that I could have.”
Beshear added that his focus remains on helping Americans feel safe, creating good jobs, and bringing people together. He said he cares more about the country than climbing the political ladder.
