Amended state budget bill heads to Kentucky Senate
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – An amended state budget bill has cleared the Kentucky House and is now on its way to the Senate.
Lawmakers say House Bill 500 advanced Thursday by an 81-18 vote. The measure outlines a two-year spending plan totaling more than $31 billion.
According to legislators, the proposed budget includes funding for public education and public safety initiatives. The plan also calls for a three percent reduction in executive branch spending.
The bill now moves to the Kentucky Senate for consideration as lawmakers continue work on the state’s next biennial budget.
