Alpha Delta Pi sorority serenaded for fundraising efforts

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Tuesday was a special day for members of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, as country music sensation Deanna Carter put on a private concert for the group.

The sorority sisters have been raising money for the Ronald McDonald House all year as part of an international competition hosted by Carter.  The Lexington chapter raised more than $86,000 dollars over the year.

The Ronald McDonald House provides a place for families to spend weeks or months to get treatment for a seriously ill or injured child. Alpha Delta Pi President Becca Gower says the money her sorority raised will, "…go towards their electric bill here in Lexington and it will pay for it a little over a year. so they don’t have to worry about that bill at all and that’s how it will be distributed towards that electric bill."

For winning the contest, the girls got to spend the afternoon listening to Carter.
