Air Fest- The Planes
Lyssa: hey guys, welcome back. We are at the Georgetown/Scott County airport. I am here with Matt and with Martin, and they are the organizers for the Air Fest that’s happening this weekend.
Okay, first of all, how impossible is it to organize such a big event like this?
Matt: this takes a lot of time. We had dozens of volunteers help us over the course of a year, and we have finally come together for this weekend, Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 5:00. All day, each day, with two aerobatic shows each day, and a kid’s zone, and helicopter rides. We’d love to have everybody and their entire family to come out and experience a great weekend.
Lyssa: well, and it should be a lot of fun. It really should be. And, how many different types of planes, I guess, are you gonna have here?
Martin: well, we have … Well, we have a b-25 World War II air bomber coming in, and they’re gonna be doing rides. And we’ve got four different aerobatic performers who are gonna be actually doing the aerobatics. We’ve got a Huey Helicopter, we’ve got a cobra helicopter, we’ve got a 1939 Fairchild, we’ve got a p-51 Mustang.
Lyssa : nice.
Martin: so, we’ve got a whole plethora … Plus, we’ve got some people that will be flying in and actually staying for a while, and parked on the ramp a static display.
Lyssa : gotcha.
Matt: and especially these experimental airplanes behind us. They are absolutely incredible machines that people have built. A lot of us pilots feel safer flying them than driving in a car.
Lyssa : really? I’m gonna have to take your word on that. I don’t know if I could do that or not. And, it’s gonna be this weekend. And, as far as the cost, the admission, it’s $20, right, for each day?
Martin: at the gate.
Lyssa : at the gate.
Martin: at the gate.
Lyssa : okay.
Martin: and then $15 if you advance purchase on the website.
Lyssa : okay. And what’s the website again?
Martin: the website is airfestky.Com.
Lyssa: okay, awesome. Well, we’ve got more to talk about, but I gotta go to commercial break again. But, thank you guys for being here. I appreciate it.
And, we’ll be back after this break. Keep it right here. You’re watching Good Day Kentucky.
