AIDS walk celebrates 25th anniversary

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Hundreds of people taking part in the AIDS walk for life Sunday didn’t let the gloomy weather stop them.

It was a party and a celebration of life.

This is the walk’s 25th anniversary.

It marked a time to reflect on the progress that’s been made in fighting HIV/AIDS.

“A lot of these people here have been personally touched by HIV/AIDS, they have known family or friends, they’ve actually even maybe lost people. Many of them had been marching with us for over 25 years and this is close and dear to their hearts,” says Jon Parker, AVOL, Executive Director.

Marchers emphasized reducing stigma related to HIV as well as the importance of testing.
