AI boom expected to raise prices on smartphones, smartwatches and tablets
(ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Consumers may soon see higher prices on everyday tech devices, as analysts warn that the growing demand for artificial intelligence is pushing up memory costs.
Experts say manufacturers are shifting more of their production toward AI data centers, which is driving up the cost of components used in smartphones, smartwatches and tablets. Tech giants Meta, Google and Microsoft are among the companies expanding data centers and infrastructure to meet rising AI demand.
According to research firm Popal, the average price of a smartphone is projected to increase to $465 next year, up from $457 in 2025.
