AG, Frankfort PF to hold Internet child safety classes for parents
FRANKFORT, KY. (WTVQ) – Attorney General Andy Beshear and Frankfort Police Chief Jeff Abrams are partnering to offer local parents Internet child safety training.
The trainings will walk parents through Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky’s Internet safety toolkit aimed at keeping children safe online.
The classes will be held 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Frankfort Police Department, 300 West Second St., Aug. 18, Oct. 4 and Dec. 5. The training is free but space is limited. To register, please email mallen@ky.gov.
“Our children are our most prized, most impressionable and most vulnerable asset,” Chief Abrams said. “We live in a digital age that today’s children can become desensitized to because they will never know a time when the Internet didn’t exist. It is extremely important that we embrace our technology without turning a blind eye to the potential dangers that it poses to our youth. I encourage any parent or guardian who would like to learn more about safeguarding their children online to take advantage of this great opportunity.”
The Internet safety toolkit of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky is funded by a grant from the Child Victims Trust Fund, which is administered by the Office of the Attorney General’s Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention Board. The agency’s website provides critical information to adults on resources, training, prevention education and the Internet safety toolkit.
