Additional snowfall could affect morning commutes
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Motorists have already experienced plunging temperatures and heavy amounts of snow, but there’s more snow plunging into the Bluegrass region that could affect drivers during commutes.
But here’s something imperative to pay attention to. When snow and rainfall intermix; slippery roadways become a problem.
With the mixture of snow and rain, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration are providing safety tips to help motorists stay safe on their morning commutes.
According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, make sure you get your vehicle serviced, check batteries, and also check your cooling system.
They say check your windshield wipers, and defrosters.
In addition to windshield wipers and defrosters, the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration recommends that motorists become more familiar with their vehicle, and plan travel and route plans.
They also say stock your vehicle with emergency medical supplies.
According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, District 7 crews have been out since 5 a.m. this morning patrolling roadways, and will continue monitoring the roads throughout the day.
