Governor asked to stop blocking people on social media

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WTVQ)-In local politics, the ACLU is asking Governor Matt Bevin to stop blocking people on social media.

The Courier-Journal reports the ACUL sent a letter to the Governor earlier this month explaining by blocking people he’s violating their rights of free speech.

The paper has reported in the past the Governor has blocked about 600 accounts from his Facebook and Twitter pages.

That means those people can’t see the Governor’s posts or comment on them.

A spokesman for the Governor says Bevin blocks people who post obscene, spam, or off-topic material.

He also says blocking doesn’t violate free-speech because they can still express opinions online.
