UPDATE: Two arrested after assault at Laurel Co. Walmart

CORBIN, Ky. (WTVQ) – Laurel County Sheriff John Root says multiple tips from social media helped his office track down two people he says were involved in a robbery and assault that occurred Wednesday night at the Walmart near Corbin.

Deputies say, on Wednesday, 26-year-old Seth Harville and 25-year-old Chelsea Kay Roark were seen shoplifting by a loss prevention officer at the store.  When a member of the loss prevention team approached them, deputies say Harville punched the man.

The incident was captured on store surveillance, and released to the public.  The Sheriff says with the help of tips, Harville and Roark were arrested off Mazie and Wise Owl Roads just before 1:00 p.m. on Friday – less than 18 hours after the video was released.

Harville was charged with robbery and resisting arrest, due to a brief struggle with investigators before being taken into custody. Roark has been charged with robbery.

Security camera catches accused shoplifter attacking Walmart worker

A man accused of shoplifting and assaulting a loss prevention officer in Walmart in Laurel County was caught on tape, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies say on the evening of April 26, 2017, a man and woman were reportedly seen by Walmart’s loss prevention officers shoplifting in the store near Corbin. Investigators say a flashlight, makeup and fingernail clippers were among the items the couple reportedly shoplifted.

One of the men on the loss prevention team approached the couple and while talking to the woman, was jumped from behind by the man who started punching him, according to deputies and the security camera video.

The couple then ran into the parking lot and left in what appeared to be a while older model Ford Escape, according to investigators.

The loss prevention officer suffered serious injuries and had to go to the hospital for treatment, according to deputies.
