Accused rapist captured after six months on the run

WINCHESTER, Ky. (WTVQ) – A man accused of raping and robbing a Winchester woman is in jail in Clark County after six-months on the run, according to authorities.

Investigators say 35-year old Darvin Johnson was captured by a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Akron, Ohio on Wednesday.

Johnson is accused of holding a mother and her three-year old son at knife point on September 21, 2016, in Winchester.

Investigators say Johnson made the mother drive to an ATM in Winchester and withdraw money and after getting it, made her go back home where he reportedly raped her in front of the little boy.

At one point, Johnson reportedly picked up the child and threatened his life and then choked the mother, according to investigators.

Johnson is in the Clark County Detention Center charged with rape, robbery and kidnapping, according to the jail’s website.
