Abramson relishing role at White House

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Former lieutenant governor and Louisville mayor Jerry Abramson is relishing his role as his liaison to state and local governments.

After a couple of months on the job in Washington, Abramson told The Courier-Journal (http://cjky.it/1zos1m8) that he has stayed busy in meetings with Vice President Joe Biden, presidential speechwriters and with mayors across the nation who recently attended the U.S. Conference of Mayors.

Despite long hours and being away from family, Abramson said he feels like he’s making a difference by using information from the local level to influence national decisions.

The White House said Obama selected Abramson as head of intergovernmental affairs in November because of his experience working across party lines and with leaders from the public and private sectors on the economy and health care.
