Denzel Aberdeen entered the transfer portal, announcing on social media:
“First and Foremost I would like to thank God for allowing me to play the game I love. Without him nothing is possible. Being a part of Kentucky Men’s Basketball has been a meaningful chapter in my journey, and I am so grateful that I got an opportunity to play for such an historic program. I want to thank the Coach Pope, the entire staff, and my teammates for the support, guidance, and experiences that have helped me grow both on and off the court. The community in Lexington and Big Blue Nation made this experience truly special, and I appreciate the energy and support every time we took the floor. After discussions with my family and representation, I’ve decided to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal as I evaluate and remain open to all future opportunities.”
Aberdeen was Kentucky’s second-leading scorer this past season, averaging 13.5 points and 3.4 assists in 30.6 minutes per game.
However, Aberdeen would need a waiver to be ruled eligible.
Andrija Jelavic also entered the portal Tuesday. The sophomore averaged 5.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.4 steals in 15.6 minutes per game this past season.
