REYNOLDS STATION, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The disappearance of 8-month-old Miya Rudd from Ohio County has garnered national attention, with the case being described as “bizarre” by Kentucky State Police (KSP). Miya has not been seen since the end of April, though the missing child report was not filed until early June.
ABC36 News Now joined KSP on its latest search of the parents’ home, seeking any clues that could lead to Miya’s whereabouts.
Kentucky State Police, along with deputies from the Medical Examiner’s Office, the Coroner’s Office, and cadaver dogs, are searching the property once again for any potential clues.
Trooper Corey King explained, “They’re looking through all the debris, sifting through it to find any evidence that could suggest it’s human. We have two different searches happening at two different locations using cadaver dogs.”
To date, eight individuals have been arrested in connection with the case, including Miya’s parents and both sets of grandparents. Trooper King mentioned that more arrests are possible.
“We’re looking for this baby. We want answers. We don’t want to take everyone to jail, but unfortunately, every time we go to their home, we find drugs. They have warrants for their arrest, and we’re again removing children from the caretaker and having social services find them a safer location,” King stated.
KSP has emphasized the difficulty of the search due to the lack of cooperation from Miya’s family members. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding Miya’s whereabouts to contact KSP immediately.
This is a developing story, which we will continue to cover and update as the search for baby Miya continues.
