Abandoned baby raccoons found at Blue Grass Airport rescued

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Two abandoned baby raccoons have made their departure from the Blue Grass Airport and landed at the Kentucky Wildlife Center.

The Kentucky Wildlife Center says one of the raccoons was found in the airport’s fountain last Thursday.

A few days later, the airport found his brother.

The Wildlife Center posted on its Facebook page the raccoons’ mother was likely hit by a car.

The center says the two, named Howard Hughes and Rupert, needed treatment when they arrived.

“It was clear that mom was not around as Rupert came to us quite a bit skinnier than Howard,” the center posted. “Great job to the Blue Grass Airport Team for saving two lives!”
