AAA Offers Tips For Kentucky Drivers
An additional 8.6 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home by air, cruise ship, train or bus during the year-end holiday season between Saturday, December 21st and Wednesday, January 1st.
This is the highest travel volume recorded for the season. The 12 day holiday is one day longer than the last three years and is a significant contributor to higher travel volumes.
A car fully loaded with passengers and luggage will handle differently. An over loaded car will stress the tires, shocks, and springs, the three parts of a car that keep it in control and on the road. Drivers can find the payload capacity of their car by looking on the sticker on the driver side door panel.
Glare is more of a problem in the winter than in the summer because spray from the road hits the windshield and quickly dries leaving a dirty residue, causing poor visibility. As millions will be sharing the interstates, drivers can best keep the traffic flowing by staying out of the left lane, leaving that for passing and faster traffic.
