AAA: Cheapest December gas price average in two years

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – Christmas came early for motorists who will be traveling this holiday season with some of the lowest gas prices in recent memory.

The average price of gas in Lexington is $2.05 a gallon, which is 21-cents less than a month ago, according to AAA Blue Grass.  The statewide average is $2.13 a gallon.

Gas prices are expected to fall through the end of the year due to high gasoline production and low demand, according to AAA Blue Grass.

An estimated 102-million Americans are expected to drive to their holiday destination this year, up four-percent from a year ago, according to AAA Blue Grass.
