KSP: Escaped Lee County inmate captured

BEATTYVILLE, Ky. (AP) – Kentucky State Police say an escaped inmate from Lee County has been captured.

The State Police post in Richmond says in a news release that troopers arrested 31-year-old William Napier of Clay Hole on Saturday.

Following a court appearance in Breathitt County on a July murder charge, Napier escaped Friday while being transported back to the Three Forks Regional Jail in Beattyville and swam across the Kentucky River.

The statement says Napier now faces an escape charge.
